Knotch connected with Christina Gregor, Head of Content & Communications at Logitech Video Collaboration for our "Own Your Voice" series to hear her story, and to learn what drives Christina in her career.
It was my high school journalism class, not long after 9/11. We were assigned a project where if it scored highly, it’d be featured in our school’s newspaper. I remembered my friend’s father was a former New York City firefighter and had flown from our hometown in Southern California back to New York to help his former colleagues through a difficult time. I wanted to interview him for my story and share his perspective. Sure enough, the story made the school paper, and front page. It wasn’t so much seeing my work published, but being able to share his story that I knew I was in this.
When I graduated college and first started job hunting. I was living in San Diego at the time looking for full-time writing gigs and realized that most publications weren’t hiring full-time staff. A friend who worked in PR mentioned that PR was like journalism on steroids - you could still write, but afford to exist.
My mother. She was the best storyteller. My parents both escaped former communist Czechoslovakia to find opportunity in America and she’d tell me the stories of their struggle and triumph. I still tell myself I will write a book about their escape - one day.
Experiment with more video! Take a page out of the media industry and start incorporating more video storytelling into content. If you match what people are consuming (hello TikTok!), you’ll truly build engaging content.
Stay curious.
